The Questions People Should Ask

Planning ahead means knowing what you're agreeing to and what happens to your plan down the road. These are some of the questions we hear most often.

What happens to my plan if the funeral home closes?

It's a fair question. When you prearrange, you want to know your money and your arrangements are protected.

We'll explain how your plan is funded and what protections are in place, so you understand how your arrangements are handled if circumstances ever change.

Is my plan transferable?

Life doesn't always stay in one place. If you move or your plans change, you may want to know whether your arrangements can move with you.

We'll explain the transfer options for your plan and what you need to know before making your arrangements.

What if prices go up?

One of the benefits of planning ahead is paying today's price for our direct cremation package. If our prices increase in the future, the price you prepaid stays the same and does not go up because you have already paid for your arrangements at today's price.

We'll explain exactly what your plan covers, so you know what you've taken care of today and what your family can expect in the future.

Why plan ahead?

Why plan ahead?

Because decisions are easier to make before they're needed.

Maybe you're making your own plans. Maybe you're helping someone else make theirs. Prearranging cremation gives you the opportunity to make those decisions before they're needed.

When there isn't a plan, someone has to figure it out. They may be asking what was wanted, who to call, what needs to happen, and how to pay for it, all while dealing with the loss itself.

When you've planned ahead, those decisions have already been made.

Your family knows what you wanted. They know where the arrangements were made. They aren't starting from scratch. Instead of having to figure everything out, they can follow the plan you've already put in place.

Wait, is this an insurance policy?

If you're planning ahead, you may hear the term "preneed insurance". It is different from a traditional life insurance policy, even though both provide funds after someone dies.

Life insurance provides a death benefit to the people you choose. They can generally use that money however they need.

Preneed insurance is designed specifically to fund the cremation arrangements you've made in advance.

Think of it this way:

Life Insurance: money for your family to use.

Preneed Insurance: money set aside for the cremation you've planned.

Having life insurance doesn't mean your cremation arrangements are already planned. You can have one without the other.

When you prearrange with Choice Cremation, we'll explain how the funding works, what you're paying for, and how it applies to your direct cremation plan.
